





A laser engraving machine primarily consists of three parts: a laser, a controller, and a surface. The laser, like a pencil, emits laser beams to allow the controller to trace patterns onto the surface. The controller, which is usually a computer, is used to control the direction, intensity, speed of movement, and spread of the laser beam aimed at the surface. The surface is picked to match what the laser can act on.
Generally, engraving machines include three main genres. The most common is the X-Y table where usually the workpiece is stationary and the laser moves around in X and Y directions, however, sometimes the workpiece moves and the laser is stationary, or the laser moves in the X axis and the workpiece moves in the Y axis. A second genre is for cylindrical workpieces. The laser traverses a fine helix and on/off laser pulsing, producing the desired image on a raster basis. As for the third genre, the laser and workpiece both are stationary and galvo mirrors move the laser beam over the workpiece surface.
